Drumming in the Lunar New Year
Wyselaskie Hall came alive last Friday evening as the PLC Foundation welcomed our community to celebrate the Lunar New Year.
Foundation President Diana Bevington and Principal Dr Emma Burgess opened the event, which centred on community and shared joy while celebrating time-honoured traditions. Guests were captivated by the powerful rhythm of Taiko drumming and the energy of a traditional Lion Dance, followed by a festive multi-course banquet by award-winning caterers Crystal Palace.
The evening was filled with symbolic gestures of good fortune, including a lively prosperity toss and the distribution of traditional red envelopes to children.
Beyond the cultural celebrations, the night highlighted the remarkable generosity of the PLC community. A live auction and raffle culminated in the Foundation presenting a $128,000 cheque to the College, ensuring a significant ongoing impact for our girls.
We thank our performers, the Foundation Committee, and our partners Audi Penfold Burwood for such a vibrant and meaningful celebration.
