Start your PLC journey

Selecting the right school for your daughter is a decision that will shape her future. At PLC, we offer more than just an exceptional education – we provide a nurturing and inspiring environment where girls grow into confident, compassionate, and capable young women.

Founded in 1875, PLC has a proud history of academic excellence, a strong Christian foundation, and a warm, inclusive community. From the early years to Year 12, every girl is encouraged to discover her unique strengths, embrace new opportunities, and thrive in a school that values both tradition and innovation.

Whether you’re starting the journey to find a school for your daughter, or ready to enrol her today, we will guide you every step of the way.

Step-by-step guide to enrolment application

Step 1: Apply

For ELC applications, please complete the ELC online application

For Prep to Year 12 applications, please complete a Prep to Year 12 online application and pay a $150 non-refundable application fee. Applicants will be advised of the documents required during the application process. These typically include copies of the applicant's birth certificate, passport and most recent school report, and NAPLAN report, if applicable.

The boarding enrolment process follows the same steps as the standard enrolment process. We accept boarding applications for students entering Year 7 to Year 12. Applicants can simply indicate that they are applying for boarding in the online application form, and the rest of the process remains the same.

Step 2: Application confirmation

You will receive a confirmation email upon successful completion of the online application. At this stage, your daughter will be placed on a waiting list.

Step 3: Offer

A formal letter of offer will be sent via email if a place is available for your daughter for the specified intake year. PLC commences offering places according to the timings below:

  • Prep – three years prior to the planned commencement year.
  • Year 5 and Year 7 – two to three years prior to the planned commencement year.
  • Years 9 to 11 – 18 months prior to the planned commencement year.

Offers are made at non-intake years as places become available. Please note that if you submit an application for a non-intake year, your daughter will automatically be added to the waiting list and the Admissions Team will contact you directly should a place become available.

Step 4: Acceptance and confirmation of enrolment

Complete the Acceptance of Place Offer by the due date outlined in the letter of offer and pay a non-refundable enrolment fee of AU$1,500.

Step 5: Holding deposit

A holding deposit is charged one year prior to commencement to confirm enrolment for Prep, Year 5 and Year 7. The holding deposit is credited back to school fees in Term 2 of the year a student commences.

Step 6: Pre-commencement meeting

In the year prior to enrolment, students entering the Junior School will be invited with their families to a meeting with a member of our Junior School Leadership Team. Students in Years 7 to 11 will be invited to an online meeting. The aim of these meetings is to understand your daughter’s interests, talents and needs to support her successful transition to PLC.

Enrolment FAQs

What if my daughter doesn’t receive an offer?

Your daughter will remain on the waiting list. If a place is not available for her at the end of the year prior to her planned entry, you will be contacted and asked if you would like your daughter added to the waiting list of the next intake year.

Will my daughter’s achievements and prior school results give her priority on the waiting list?

As a non-selective school, we give equal opportunity to all girls who would like an education at PLC. As such, we do not consider school results when offering places.

Can I defer after I have accepted a place?

You can defer the preferred entry year, but there is no guarantee that your daughter will be offered a place. For example, if you receive and accept an offer for your daughter to commence in Prep and you subsequently decide that you would like her to start in Year 5, you give up her Prep offer and go back on the waiting list for Year 5. You then need to await another offer for this new intake. Please note that the enrolment fee is non-transferable and therefore cannot be transferred to another year level or sibling.

Do I need to submit multiple applications for ELC, Junior School and Senior School?

A separate application must be submitted for admission to our ELC. Students are only required to submit one application for entry to the Junior School or Senior School. A student enrolled at the Junior school has her place confirmed until the end of Year 12.

What is the difference between an overseas student and an international student?

An overseas student is a student who has been studying overseas but has an Australian passport, visa or citizenship, allowing them to study in Australia.

An international student is a student who does not have an Australian passport or visa. They will be issued with a Confirmation of Enrolment (CoE) after enrolment and will need to lodge a visa application online with the Australian Department of Home Affairs.

Read more about the requirements for international students.

What are the application requirements for international students and students coming from schools outside Australia?

All students applying from overseas are required to undertake either an IDAT or AEAS assessment (see note below regarding language requirements).

Applicants should complete an online application as per the Step-by-Step guide above and include their IDAT /AEAS assessment. Applications can be submitted without an IDAT or AEAS report, but the outcome of the application may be delayed. An interview may be requested at the time of submission, once the application has undergone an initial review.

What are the IDAT and AEAS language requirements?

For IDAT entry requirements, students must be classroom ready at all levels. AEAS scores are as follows:

  • Entry into Year 5 or 6: AEAS 65 or above
  • Entry into Year 7 or 8: AEAS 70 or above
  • Entry into Year 9 or 10: AEAS 75 or above
  • Entry into Year 11: AEAS 80 or above

If the commencement score is not achieved, ELICOS is likely to be recommended and, in some cases, a retest will be required before enrolment can be confirmed. A full review including school reports and an interview will be taken into consideration, along with the outcome of the AEAS or IDAT test.
