Joan Montgomery Centre wins Master Builders Victoria Award
We are delighted to share that our building partners ADCO Constructions have been awarded a prestigious Master Builders Victoria Excellence in Construction Awards for the Joan Montgomery Centre. Our state-of-the-art sport and aquatic facility received top honours in the category for Excellence in Construction of an Education Facility, celebrating the project's superior craftsmanship, structural innovation, and high-quality design.
"We are thrilled that ADCO Constructions has been recognised by Master Builders Victoria for their exceptional work in delivering the Joan Montgomery Centre," said Dr Emma Burgess, Principal.
This transformative facility was purpose-built to enable active participation in sport, health, and general wellbeing across every stage of school life. Designed to inspire students to lead active, healthy lifestyles, the Centre serves as a vibrant hub where students build confidence, teamwork, and lifelong fitness habits in an environment tailored to their development.
While the facility was primarily created to enrich the sporting journeys of current and future PLC students, its positive impact reaches well beyond the campus grounds. The sports courts are actively utilised by other schools, including fellow Girls Sport Victoria (GSV) member institutions, establishing the campus as a premier venue for regional interschool competitions and events.
Furthermore, the world-class Aquatic Centre welcomes the broader public through comprehensive Learn-to-Swim classes, delivering vital water safety skills and coaching to families across the local community. Looking ahead, PLC is also trialling a gymnastics program designed to broaden the College’s sporting pathway and grow into a flagship initiative for future generations of athletes.
"By hosting GSV sporting events, inviting community members into our Aquatic Centre, and expanding our athletic offerings through programs like gymnastics, we are creating a lasting legacy that benefits both our students and the wider community", Dr Burgess added.
The Master Builders Victoria Excellence in Construction Awards represent the pinnacle of achievement within the Victorian building sector, recognising projects that demonstrate exceptional quality, complex problem-solving, and outstanding educational value.
