Celebrating our 2024 Duces

Jan 6, 2025 3:58 AM

PLC proudly celebrates the exceptional achievements of the Class of 2024, with an exciting update to our results since December. Their outstanding results in the Victorian Certificate of Education (VCE) and International Baccalaureate (IB) programs set new records in the school’s history.

Over 75% of students achieved Australian Tertiary Admissions Rankings (ATAR) above 90, an impressive 22% above 99, and the median ATAR soared to an extraordinary 96.05.

Amid these historic outcomes, we celebrate our top-performing students as PLC’s 2024 Duces.

For eight IB students, including Megan Liem, Akshala Ravindran and Jennifer Lu, their hard work and determination earned them an exceptional perfect score of 45 out of 45 in the IB Diploma Program. For Duces Lauren Chew, Alison Chin, Jenny Gong, Liah Wu and 2024 School Vice-Captain, Miranda Sui, this equated to an ATAR of 99.95 – the highest possible ranking.

The IB program’s holistic approach not only fosters academic excellence but also cultivates critical thinking and interdisciplinary perspectives, empowering students to tackle real-world challenges. Reflecting on her experience, Lauren Chew shared, “The IB program has deepened my understanding of the world and expanded my knowledge across a broad range of subjects.”

Our three VCE Duces – Karlyn Du, Rebecca Fang, and Penny Guo – celebrated ATARs of 99.9, securing their place among Australia’s top-performing students. Their dedication and resilience through the demanding two-year program reflect their commitment to excellence.

Considering her genuine passion for learning, Karlyn Du shared, “From exploring fascinating new concepts in Chemistry and Biology, to tackling the continual challenges of University Maths, I have found each academic pursuit to be a rewarding journey that has inspired my interest in these fields.” PLC Principal, Cheryl Penberthy, congratulated the Duces and the entire graduating class, acknowledging the support of the whole community in navigating their final year of school.

These remarkable achievements are not only a reflection of our students’ hard work but also a direct result of the devoted support and perseverance of their families, teachers, mentors, and support staff,” Cheryl commented.

As the Class of 2024 steps into the future, their accomplishments reflect PLC’s enduring mission: to shape empowered women of character who change the world for good.

The school community eagerly anticipates the extraordinary contributions these graduates will make as they embark on their journeys of lifelong learning and leadership.

Congratulations to the Class of 2024!
