New Colombo Plan scholars receive a prestigious scholarship, which offers Australian government funding from the Department of Foreign Affairs for students to study and intern in the Asian and Indo-Pacific regions, helping to develop cross-cultural links internationally.  

As a recipient of one of these scholarships for 2020, Savitri, who is studying at Deakin University, plans to undertake a semester of study at the Royal Thimpu College, Bhutan, where she will have the opportunity to learn more about environmental management. Savitri is interested in beginning a career in geospatial science and hopes to do an internship in this area in Japan when restrictions ease.
