International Students and students coming from schools outside Australia

PLC, Melbourne (CRICOS No. 00334M), has been receiving girls from overseas countries for many years and is a recognised leader in the preparation of secondary students for tertiary studies. While the College's foundation and practice are Christian, students of all faiths are welcomed.

Partnership with University of Melbourne

Member of Melbourne Schools Partnership International (MSPI) with the University of Melbourne.

Accommodation

It is preferred that overseas students live in the on-campus Boarding House, 'Koorinya', which currently accommodates 100 students from country Victoria, other areas of Australia and overseas. Accommodation arrangements for day students not living with a parent must be approved by the Principal. Day students are generally required to live with an adult relative. Junior school students are required to live with a parent.

Guardians

Where a student's parents are resident overseas, a guardian living in Melbourne is required. The guardian must be a responsible adult, preferably a relative, but certainly someone known to the family. A guardian is expected to support a student by attending some school functions, accepting responsibilities when decisions need to be made and by providing accommodation during school holidays and on four exeat weekends during the school year.

Orientation

A three-day residential program is held in January, just before school commences. Students have the opportunity to make new friends and find their way around the College's buildings and grounds. Students also have the time to become familiar with Melbourne's transport system and the local shops. Parents and students meet Senior School and Boarding House staff and the parents of other students.

English language

English language support helps students to practise the skills of speaking, listening, reading and writing. An assessment of each student's English language needs is made on her entry to the College and qualified tutors assist students to acquire appropriate language skills and to develop sound approaches to academic study.
